Does your skin need some tender, loving care? If you’re dissatisfied with your skin tone or texture, or you have imperfections that bother you, you can benefit from a regimen of customized facials to keep your skin looking radiant rather than red, dry, or dull.
Our board-certified family nurse practitioners with Her Down There provide facials that are geared to your specific skin concerns. Whether you’re in your 20s and troubled by acne breakouts, in your 40s and seeing fine lines and wrinkles appear, or in menopause with skin that looks dry, dull, and/or sun-damaged, you’ll receive a facial formula made just for you.
First, we examine your skin, assessing your skin tone, texture, elasticity, and overall condition. We review your medical history and ask about any allergies. We want to know about your current skin care habits and which products you use. We encourage you to tell us your goals for your facials and how you’d like your skin to look.
Facials follow a general pattern. First, we provide a deep cleaning that eliminates dirt and excess oil. Step two involves exfoliation, which whisks away dead skin cells and generates new cell growth. We may need to extract dirt and oil from clogged pores.
Step three includes hydration. During step four, we seal in the moisture using special serums. And, we may use massage at various points during your treatment to stimulate your blood vessels and enhance circulation.
We customize your facial to your specific needs. Following are just some of the specialized facial treatments we offer.
If you have acne, your skin suffers from overproduction of oil. That, together with debris, causes clogged pores. Deep cleaning removes the excess oil and dirt. Exfoliation helps eliminate clogged pores. We extract blackheads or whiteheads. We may use LED light to kill bacteria and help control oil production. Soothing masks help reduce inflammation.
An important ingredient in facials for acne breakouts is benzoyl peroxide, which kills bacteria that cause acne; it’s in the deep cleanser that removes dirt and oil. Your exfoliant may include salicylic acid. While treating your pores, it also calms inflammation and helps prevent bacteria buildup. Your hydration during a facial may include niacinamide, an ingredient that helps diminish your pores and fade red areas.
As you grow older and your estrogen levels drop, your skin can lose its dewy radiance. It’s less elastic, so smile and frown lines begin to appear from the millions of contractions of your facial muscles over your lifetime. Your skin may also look dry and dull.
Your custom facial includes Vitamin C, which helps minimize fine lines, wrinkles, and sun spots. Hyaluronic acid is a lubricant your body produces, but the amount diminishes as you age. We replenish hyaluronic acid to help hydrate your skin and minimize wrinkles.
Your facial also includes ceramides that create a barrier to hold in moisture. The moisture helps minimize and prevent lines and wrinkles.
If your skin is very dry, we recommend a hydration facial. This facial features ingredients that put moisture back into your skin and boost new skin cell production. We use a very gentle cleanser that includes hydration.
A dry skin facial includes hyaluronic acid, collagen, oils, and other moistening ingredients. We may use ampoules after deep cleansing and also under a sheet mask to help soak in hydration and give your face a radiant glow. The ampoules may include hyaluronic acid, alpha hydroxy acid, Vitamin C, retinol, and other ingredients that improve dry, dull skin.
Do you have uneven skin tone or texture? Niacinamide helps reduce hyperpigmentation, improving your skin tone. We may use glycolic and lactic acid to boost the production of new skin cells. Retinol boosts collagen production, improving skin texture. We can also include dermaplaning in your facial protocol to eliminate dead skin cells on your skin’s top layer, your epidermis.
